Mayor’s Youth Council
The Mayor’s Youth Council presented by AT&T
On September 15, 2009, the Horn Lake Board of Aldermen adopted a resolution to establish the first ever Mayor’s Youth Council. The Council is now in it’s third year and has become an integral part of the Horn Lake community. Presented by AT&T, in partner ship with the Mississippi Municipal League, the council is formed from the Sophomore to Senior classes at Horn Lake High School. The Horn Lake Mayor’s Youth Council, under Mayor Nat Baker, was the first council to be established in Desoto County. The main goal of the group is to bridge the communication gap between the youth of the Horn Lake area and the officials and elected leaders of City Hall. Throughout committed membership, the students will learn the basics of city government, hold regular meetings, and attend conferences that enable them to explore careers in government on all levels and to advance their leadership skills. It is with honor that the City of Horn Lake presents the 2011-2012 Mayor’s Youth Council.
