Mayor’s Youth Council
The Mayor’s Youth Council presented by AT&T
On September 15, 2009, the Horn Lake Board of Aldermen adopted a resolution to establish the first ever Mayor’s Youth Council.
I’m proud to introduce to you the 2009-10 Mayor’s Youth Council presented by AT&T in partnership with the Mississippi Municipal League and Neel-Schaffer Engineering. The council is formed from the Freshman to Senior classes at Horn Lake High School, each individually nominated by staff at the school. We are very excited to be the first city in Desoto County to have a youth council and plan on working towards a common goal to bridge the communication between the youth of the Horn Lake and City Hall. Along the way they will learn the basics of city government, hold meetings and attend conferences that allow them to explore their opportunities in government.
