City Holidays - City Hall offices are closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day (January 1), Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday (third Monday in January), President’s Day (third Monday in February), Good Friday, Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (first Monday in September), Veteran’s Day (November 11), Thanksgiving Day and the day after Christmas Day and the day before or after any other day as may be proclaimed by the Governor and approved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. A recognized holiday that falls on a Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday. A recognized holiday that falls on a Sunday will be recognized on the following Monday.
