New Friends At "Watch" Meetings
The neighborhood "Watch" meetings
is a great place to meet new friends, as well as learn about
what's going on in our community. These are people who
volunteer. to participate in keeping our community safer. Our
"Watch" volunteers assist us with our "Christmas Float", which
took first place, in the Horn Lake Christmas Parade, our
"Breakfast With Santa" which saw 100 children from our community
have a chance to visit with Santa (Sgt. Robert Brady) and put in
their requests, and of course, Horn Lake's National Night Out
Program. This year's National Night Out is Scheduled for August
7th, and if last year was any indication, our city should be
prepared for 2000 people or more people. As is the case, we
cannot make this happen without the support of the many
businesses, 63 to be exact, who participated last year, and we
"Thank You" from the bottom of our hearts. Ya'll are the one's
who make this work for our city, as well as the support of the
Horn Lake Police Department. So join us, the first Monday
night of each month, at 7:00 pm at our City Hall, and make a
difference in our community.

Horn Lake Library Needs Our Help
Our Horn Lake Library is in need of
our assistance, between 2:30 and 6:00 pm, as teenage kids appear to
be "ganging" up, and loitering between these times. They are
experiencing more, damage and destruction in the bathrooms, in spite
of a key lock system, implemented last year. Take a moment, and just
stop in and see if the employees need us to help report this
activity to our police department @ 393-6174. Our police department
will be increasing their presence, as well.
Chocolate Mushrooms
At Our January meeting, Sgt. Scott
Evans informed us of a "new" danger in the illegal drug world.
"Chocolate Mushrooms" are beginning to infiltrate into Horn Lake,
along with a resurgence of heroine. The "mushroom" Looks as it
sounds, but is laced with illegal narcotics. If you see anything
that appears to look like this, report this to our police
department, immediately at 393-6174. Just one more thing to "Watch"
and protect our families from.
Help Wanted
The Horn Lake
Neighborhood Watch is in need of volunteers, to patrol our community
streets, daytime or nighttime. If you can spare an hour or two per
week, please call Tom Polzin (662)342-6413, and give him your name,
address, and phone number.
The pay is
outstanding (Nothing), the benefits include (Nothing), and the
rewards include (Thank you from the Horn Lake Police Department).
You may ride with only one weapon, that being a cell phone, and the
ability to memorize the police dispatch number 393-6174. The
opportunity for advancement is still nothing. But if you are the one
who cares what happens in our community...This Job Is For You.…
Horn Lake's "National Night Out" Set
Horn Lake's
National Night Out is now scheduled for August 4th, 2008. We will be
located at Latimer Lakes Park, in the pavilion, as last year.
Read the Flyer
Last year brought
2000 people to join us, in a festive occasion, to celebrate the
National Night Out Program with the rest of the cities in the United
States. We had 63 sponsors last year, from our business community,
and boy, are we going to need them again this year. "Target", the
national sponsor, will join us again this year, along with the many
other sponsors for an evening of hamburgers and hot dogs, cooked by
the Horn Lake Police Department, raffle items, fun and merriment.
Stay tuned for further details, as the Horn Lake Neighborhood Watch
Program, gets ready "To Party". If you would like to help, please
contact Lee and Betty Beddow, at 393-5294, or Tom Polzin at 342-6413.
