Planning & Development

     The office of Planning and Development provides planning and policy development assistance to developers, citizens, Planning and Design Review Commissioners and the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.  Our office develops programs in response to emerging issues and manages the revision and implementation of the City of Horn Lake's Comprehensive Plan.  The office also coordinates the city's strategic planning efforts and oversees planning and zoning for the growth, development, improvement, restoration and beautification of the community.  Our goal is to improve the quality of life for all our residents, business and visitors to our community.

Planning Commission is formed by various citizens who are appointed to this position for a 4 year term.  The next term will be in 2009.   The commissions’ duty is to serve as an advisory board to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.  Any questions related to the work of the Planning Commission should be directed to the Planning Department at (662) 393-6705

Design & Review Committee is a four year appointed position with the City of Horn Lake.  It is made up of citizens who have a vision and direction they wish to see the City obtain in design of new developments coming into the City.  This term is also a four year term as with the Planning Commission.  Next term will be in 2009.

PLANNING COMMISSION

Submittal deadline - 1st working day of month
Meeting - Last Monday of each month at 6:30 unless it is a holiday, then the Monday Prior

Design and Review Board

Submittal deadline - 20th of each month
Meeting - 1st Monday of the following month at 6:00 pm
 

 

Subsequent Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting is the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.
