Horn Lake Police Department Citizen Academy
The purpose of the academy is to give citizens the opportunity to learn about police work in general and gain insight into the Horn Lake Police Department’s daily operations and divisions. The academy will be held on Thursday nights from 6pm – 8pm for 8 weeks. The class will begin on August 14th, and end on October 7th, 2025. The program is open to DeSoto County residents, 21 years of age and older. Classes will be held at The Horn Lake Police Department. Class size is limited to 12 participants.
The academy is not designed to make participants certified police officers, nor does it give the graduates the authority to act as police officers. The focus of the curriculum is to provide an informative overview of some of the fundamentals of police operations and community crime prevention. This two-way communication will hopefully be an effective and successful way to build partnerships between the community and the police department.
