Animal Shelter/Services

The Horn Lake Animal Shelter is under the direction of Frances Williams.  The shelter has a compassionate staff of workers which works hard to maintain an efficient and clean shelter.

Ann McClain is responsible for maintaining the PetFinder website by posting every day the animals that we take in, in order to connect them to their owner and to get them adopted out in a timely manner.  She also cleans and disinfects the dog kennels and kennel area.

Bob Brixey is our Animal Control officer and responds to dogs running loose, vicious dogs, dog bites, and numerous other complaints that we may get during day.

Cole Freeman and Joe Slais are responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the dogs and cats which is seven day a week regardless of holidays.

Our cats and dogs are housed in separate buildings now to provide better accommodations for the animals; I am very proud of our shelter – it has come a long way from the 4 kennel building we were once housed in.

We are establishing a great group of volunteers that come in everyday to walk the dogs and socialize with them as well as the cats.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please drop by the shelter and we will be glad to sign you up – it is great exercise and very rewarding

Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  You may reach us at 662-393-5857 during those hours.  After hours EMERGENCY ONLY call Horn Lake Police Department, 662-393-6174.  We are located at 6410 Center Street, Horn Lake, MS, email is hlshelter@yahoo.com; website is www.hornlakeshelter.petfinder.com for a complete list of available pets.
