Message From Waste Connections
Waste Connections is committed to honoring our contract with the City of Horn Lake. We have developed contingency plans based off worst-case scenarios caused by COVID 19. Every operational employee at the Memphis District has been issued a COVID-19 Emergency Declaration card by FEMA. We will move employees from other lines of business to ensure service for the City of Horn Lake. This would include myself and all of our managers and supervisors. Waste Connections is working closely with many health organizations throughout the United States and Canada. An area of concern is touching loose garbage or bagged garbage outside the cart. Many municipalities and public/private companies across our country have initiated that all bagged trash must be in the cart. We have also seen that several recycling plants have also shut down in recent days. I am proposing the following changes to our service in the City of Horn Lake.
• Effective Monday, April 6, 2020, we will only service trash inside the cart.
• Bags that are outside of the cart will not be serviced.
• We will revaluate with the city every two weeks.
• We have no plans currently to stop recycling, brush or bulk services
We realize that the timing of this terrible with so many families that are homebound. The only way all our contingency plan works if we can keep our employees safe and healthily during this pandemic.
