UPDATE: 3/14/11 – HORN LAKE HAS BEGUN RECYCLING:
On Tuesday, February 1, 2011 the Board of Aldermen approved a contract with Waste Connections, Inc. for curb-side recycling in Horn Lake. Residents who enroll in the recycling program will pay an additional $6.25 per month on their utility bill for bi-weekly recycling pickup. Waste Connections has partnered with Recyclebank to provide rewards and incentives for residents who participate in the program. During their presentation before the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, Tuesday, Waste Connections stated that once residents become part of the program they will realize that the points and incentives they earn through Recyclebank will mitigate their monthly cost for recycling. The City’s goal is to roll carts out by March 1st but a minimum of 250 residents must sign up for the recycling program before it can begin.
